Our firm has represented significant licensees and licensors in intellectual property disputes in and out of bankruptcy, as well as landlord-tenant and franchisee-franchisor disputes also in and out of bankruptcy.

Nearly A Century Of Legal And Litigation Experience

The accomplished attorneys in our firm have nearly a century of legal and litigation experience. Their credentials are also impressive. For example:

  • Shelby A. Jordan has been listed in the Texas Monthly Annual Super Lawyers every year since its original publication (2003 through 2020). Best Lawyers in America has also listed him in its publication for almost 30 years (1992 through 2020), and he has held an AV Rating (highest available peer rating) each year since 1978.  He is board-certified in business bankruptcy by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and also board certified in business bankruptcy by the American Bankruptcy Institute.  Mr. Jordan has represented Debtors in major Chapter 11 cases involving than $12 billion in claims from bankruptcy court to arguments before the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Jordan has litigated more than 225 cases in federal and state courts where he often served as lead counsel in a wide variety of business disputes, and financial, bankruptcy, business and commercial litigation matters. He has handled more than 50 appeals in the State of Texas and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals with numerous opinions of first impression in Texas and the Fifth Circuit, and was affirmed by opinion (sitting in designation) by Justice Sandra Day O’Conner. He has published and/or has spoken at well over 75 legal articles and seminars involving current issues in commercial bankruptcies, workouts and business litigation, fiduciary litigation, defense of borrower and guaranty claims.

  • Antonio Ortiz is an experienced attorney capable of advising companies and individuals on a wide range of legal and business issues. He focuses his practice on commercial construction litigation, including disputes involving bankruptcy issues and litigation, business torts, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty. In addition, Mr. Ortiz has been involved in numerous loan workouts and has broad experience representing borrowers and guarantors in litigation. Additionally, Mr. Ortiz dedicates a significant part of his practice to the resolution of construction disputes of commercial building and development projects, including dealing with bonding, insurance, and related issues.
